About This Quote

During the early 1940s, William Golding’s novel “Lord of the Flies” was published. In it, a group of British boys are stranded on an island where they must revert to savagery. The story ends with one boy regaining his sanity. And that boy is Ralph, who becomes the leader of the boys.

He does so by realizing that he has been taken captive by people who are not human, but are instead animals. He knows this because he had lived among them all his life. He had also seen them kill each other, and he witnessed their violence against each other.
